There are different set of preparation and cooking techniques in every part of the world. Each one of them represents the way of living in the region where it originated. Many of the richest culinary cultures belong to the countries of Europe. There are thousands of unique kinds of food that are only found there. If you want to experience tasting them, here is a list of some of the unique cuisines in the continent that you might want to try.

  • Hungarian
  • It is also known as the Magyar way of cooking which is also the name of their primary native ethnic group. Their recipes are usually based on traditional preparation methods including the ingredients of seasonal vegetables, cheeses, fruits, honey, fresh bread, and meat. They also have several varieties of sausages such as Hurka, winter Salami, Virsli, and Debrecener.

  • German
  • This style of preparing food has evolved through the long period of political and social changes that the country has encountered. Although there are many variations that are unique from each region, the similarities can be identified. The use of meat such as poultry, beef, and pork is usually seen. Other than that, there are also some that uses fishes such as tuna, salmon, sardines and mackerel. The most common herbs used are caraway, juniper berries, black pepper, thyme, chives, parsley, and laurel.

  • Portuguese
  • This type of cuisine is mainly distinguished by its rich and sumptuously-flavoured dishes. Though it is unique to the country, it can trace some relationship with the Mediterranean way of cooking. There are various spices used in preparing food. Among them are, chilli peppers, cinnamon, vanilla, saffron and black pepper. For the fact that Portugal is a seafaring nation, there is plenty of seafood included in their list of favourite dishes.

  • Belgian
  • For the fact that the country is well known for its high quality chocolate, there are several food items that are influenced with it. It is usually seen in the preparations of deserts and other sweet confections. Aside from that, there are also plenty of mouthwatering dishes that are only found here. Among them are Moules-frites, Konjin in Gueze, Stoemp, Salade Liegoise, and Waterzooi.

  • Norwegian
  • Although nowadays it has been influenced by the modern ways of cooking, the traditional methods can still be seen especially in the countryside regions. One of the most world-known dishes is the smoked salmon. It is being served together with dill, scrambled egg, mustard sauce, and sandwiches.
